from Italy exclusively by Blue Frog Chocolates,
New Orleans
These
lovely flowers from Sulmona, Italy,
are a gift of art. Each petal is made using antique
artisan traditional methods from a delicious candy
coating and a rich, dark European chocolate, nut
or licorice center, then hand wrapped with vibrant
colors. The flowers produce a dazzling display of
color that delights the eye as well as tempts the
palate.
Originally
an Italian wedding tradition, confetti fiori, or
floral candy, dates to the 15th Century in Sulmona,
where the nuns of the Santa Chiara convent began
wrapping confetti with colored silk and crafting
them into flowers. Of course, you don’t have
to be Italian to enjoy the vibrant colors and the
beauty of confetti. Enjoy their beauty for the months
to come, since the candy stems will remain fresh
for a year.
